Sunday Morning Softball Training
Dear CCCC Member,
If your child currently comes along on a Sunday morning and is part of Joe’s softball group, you will probably be aware that this age group is the hardest to manage. With children so young, often completely new to the sport, keeping them happy and engaged for a 2.5 hour session is very difficult to do.
Joe and his team do a great job of this and, from the feedback we get, it is clear that this very important section of CCCC is thriving.
However, although we have always tried to run this session in parallel with the older hard ball sessions (with the same start and finish times), we have, for some time, been considering whether this session it just too long for such young children.
After speaking amongst the CCCC Senior Team and having also consulted a number of the parents who come along, we have taken the decision to reduce the length of this session by 30 mins. Thus, from this Sunday (12th May) onward the softball session will run from 9.00am to 11.00am. The session format will still stay much the same and very little else will change.
We hope you will understand that this decision has been taken with the children’s best interests at heart. We want all children to enjoy their cricket and hopefully this slightly shorter session will keep their interest and energy levels at their peak, maximising their enjoyment.
If you have any questions on the above, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or speak with one of the CCCC team on Sunday.
In the interest of health and safety and child welfare, you will need to ensure that you are able to collect your children no later than 11.00am. You are more than welcome to obtain refreshments after your session and there is no need for you to leave Clare College grounds before 11.30am. However, with various hard ball sessions still running until 11.30am, we cannot have un-accompanied children wandering around the outfield for obvious reasons.
We would also like to take this opportunity to remind all parents, as per our membership documentation, that children need to be at least 7 years old (and currently in year 2) to participate in this group. Unfortunately we are just not able to cater for children below this age due to both our health and safety policy and our insurance coverage. Thus, please note that from this Sunday onward (12th), we will not be able to accept any children under this age into the session.
Thanks in advance for your understanding.
The CCCC Team
