Cokenach CC U10 – 98 for 4 (Net score 278)
Cokenach CC Win
Well done to the U10s team who played at Cokenach on Monday and pushed a much older and more experienced opposition right to the wire.
A solid batting performance was epitomised by losing only 3 wickets in the full 15 overs…and all to the same bowler. With notable performances from Will, debutants Niketh and?Sanketh, and Katie, CCCC posted a score of 265. Whilst this gave us something to defend, it was going to need a good, disciplined?bowling performance.
Happily, the team then put in the U10s’ most consistent bowling performance of the year with everyone playing their part, ably marshalled by captain Thomas. There were only 10 wides called in the whole of the Cokenach innings which kept the pressure on their batsman to try and score off the good balls as well as capitalise on any loose ones.
Of particular note were Ollie (1 over for 3 runs), Alexandra (8 dot balls in her two overs) and Joseph (getting the batsman caught behind with the first ball). However, despite some lively fielding from Ned and others, we struggled under the pressure of constant (and sometimes suicidal) running from Cokenach – something to work on in training!
Torin took the pressure role of bowling the last over with only 3 needed to win.?There was much excitement when his third ball sent the bails flying, only for it to be called a waist-high no-ball. A couple of lusty blows at the end saw Cokenach reach 278 with a last-over victory.
A terrific performance from an enthusiastic young side.
