Reed CC U11 v CCCC U11C (Match Report)

Reed U11 – 73 for 6 (Net score 243)

CCCC U11C – 75 for 3 (Net score 260)

The CCCC U11C team finally got their first game under the belt,?with a fine win against Reed CC at Reed’s very picturesque ground.

Starting in brilliant sunshine and with only 8 players on the pitch, CCCC chose to bowl first and got off to a great start, conceding only 2 runs from the first 2 overs. This set the tone for the rest of Reed?innings with CCCC also taking wickets at regular intervals. CCCC managed to restrict Reed to 43 for 6 from their 15 overs,?with Noah (3 for?9), Freddie (2 for?3) and Ethan (1 for 9) taking the vital wickets. Special mention goes to Freddie and Noah who both took two wickets in one over (Freddie doing so in the final over!). Also, a big well done to Leo, who stepped in as WK at the last minute, having never kept wicket before. Top job!

With a reasonable total on the board, CCCC came out and looked to be positive in their reply. Each pair looked to build on the teams total and Reed struggled to take wickets. Some good running from Arthur and Arjun and also from Chris and Ethan meant that, with 3 over to go, CCCC were in a winning position. Cue?the rain and Reed’s returning opening?bowlers!

With lots of support from their Captain (Arjun) and the rest of the team, Noah and Freddie looked assured and confident, batting out the final three overs for 8 runs and sealing a memorable victory for this new team.

Well done to all for a great start. Thanks to Reed CC for a good game and for such a valiant effort.
