Reed CC U13 v CCCC U13 (Match report)

Reed CC U13 – 43 all out

CCCC U13 – 124 for 8

CCCC Win

The honour of playing The City of Cambridge CC’s first ever match fell to the U13A side when they met Reed CC on Thursday night. Playing at Reed, the team started the season off with a superb victory.

Batting first, the U13’s posted a score of 124/8 with Dom Aho (30 retired) and Hugh Aubrey (31 retired) leading the way. Hugh managed to finish his innings with a straight six, narrowly missing his mothers car! Nice one Hugh.? There were also useful contributions from Yousuf Choudhary (14) and Ed Hackett (18).

Chasing such an impressive total proved too much for Reed CC and they were all out for 43 runs. The CCCC bowlers were all excellent, with almost every bowler taking wickets. Theo Wiseman deserves a special mention for a double wicket maiden, finishing with figures of 3 overs, 3 wickets for 0 runs!

Despite the fielding being a bit rusty at times (much to the frustration of the team manager) there were some spectacular catches, one of which (from Ed Hackett) preventing serious injury to one of the umpires.

A great start to the season. Well done to all.
